How can IPPF member associations increase equitable access to contraception?
Date: 28/07/2021
Topic
This roundtable discussion will explore good practices, success stories and ideas for increasing equitable access to family planning, and the role of IPPF in supporting solutions. This conversation will provide valuable information to IPPF to inform the next Strategic Framework.
IPPF has launched a series of round table discussion, as part of Strategy 2028 development process, to infuse the fresh input and ideas from members, partners, sector stakeholders and clients. Contraception is a core sexual and reproductive health service, and a core component of primary health care, yet there are still major barriers to universal access.
In 2021, significant challenges to achieving universal access to contraception remain, ranging from awareness, access, affordability, choice of methods, supplies and opposition. These challenges have been exacerbated by the global pandemic, a resurgence of conservative ideology in political and social spheres and the deprioritisation of contraception in countries with ageing populations. With our commitment to reach the vulnerable and leave no one behind, what work still needs to be done?
